American Military Conducts Deadly Strike in Pacific, Leading to Four Deaths

As stated by a high-ranking military official, the US military carried out a fatal kinetic engagement on a boat in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of four people.

ā€œA US joint task force carried out a deadly attack on a vessel operated by a terrorist group in international waters. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along a established drug smuggling route and was engaged in illicit drug transport. All four male drug traffickers were eliminated, and no US military forces were injured.ā€

Background and Recent Actions

This announcement follows a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund drug trafficking and criminal activities, pledging to escalate the military presence.

Just on Tuesday, US defense officials stated it had carried out strikes on three boats suspected of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, more than 20 military engagements have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 individuals, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Justifies Tactics Amid Scrutiny

The administration has faced growing demands to release video of a September 2nd vessel attack. However, officials have declined to do so. The administration has supported its campaign as a success, saying it has prevented drugs from reaching US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is exceeding the limits of lawful warfare.

Although the administration has stated the operation is about stopping drugs destined for the US, comments from a top official seemed to suggest a broader political objective. In a recently published interview, the senior advisor remarked the leader ā€œaims to keep on destroying vessels until Venezuela's president surrenders or concedes.ā€

This indicates the series of strikes may be linked to a strategy to remove Venezuela's current government.
