From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
