England Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test for the Kiwis was against England in December 2024.
England bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is only likely to be available for the opening match because of his participation in the ILT20 competition, which starts on December 2 in the UAE.
Southee, aged 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Speaking as the English squad for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was announced, Southee stated of his availability: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We'll see what happens over the next little while."
English bowling legend Stuart Broad had declared the Australian team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which starts on 21 November.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," he remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [the English] team that's going out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."
However, before England travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
