Esteemed Performer The actor Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.
Stateside performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones shared in a message.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, like:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored countless students during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared on social media.
Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
