Even after police confirmed that the arrested individuals were British nationals, some figures continued to insinuate that information was being withheld. A former Reform UK co-leader claimed it was “hard to believe” that the incident was not an act of terrorism, despite official statements indicating otherwise.

These protocols were created by the UK police leadership body in recognition of “growing public anxiety” and to ensure law enforcement procedures were “fit for purpose in an age of rapid information spread”.
