Space Traveler Reveals Depression In the Wake of ‘Tsunami of Harassment After Historic Trip

A pioneering space traveler has opened up regarding her emotional downturn after enduring a relentless barrage of criticism in the aftermath of a historic all-female space mission.

The 34-year-old activist – celebrated as a researcher and activist – was part of the short-duration mission in April, which also featured high-profile passengers.

The researcher, who has conducted studies in gynecological science and operated research during the mission, said everything she had worked for – including her studies and extensive preparation to the historic significance of her roots – was overshadowed under the deluge of misogyny.

She is widely recognized for her groundbreaking advocacy championing the cause of survivors of assault.

Her own goal of reaching space was paused after being assaulted during her university years, leading to a protracted legal battle.

A Path to Recovery

Now, eight months after achieving her goal, she noted the heaviest sorrow is beginning to clear, and she expressed gratitude the well-wishers whose support helped save her. “Your support rescued me,” she wrote.

She concluded that even with the backlash, significant positive outcomes had resulted from the flight, including elevated attention for her women's health research and new advocacy opportunities.
