The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Earns a Significant Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the channel introduced a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often defined by cynicism, this show's sincerity struck a chord and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who took a chance on the show and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He shouted out the fans who found the show and championed its peculiarly charming sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about following this lovable family go about their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its current layer of irony. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to enjoy the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
