NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes live text for the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and after last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus Denver, set to play in London this Sunday.

However it was positive to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall and then lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the victory by four points.

Denver have the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, and Denver prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four defenders instead they might plug two LBs in the interior then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.

Early on of the season, it was noted during a show that Denver could be the current year's dark horses. They finished the previous year strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has stepped up big and recent running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows that the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in positive down and distances.

It's also benefited quarterback the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw all over, but they lack the mobility as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, plus he is so athletic.

His assets include his mobility, being able to throw while moving, and finding different arm angles to deliver the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able pass in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to be on the field for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence has to defend the area vertically and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

Nix has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. He can truly build something up how he wants to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

Payton owns a championship and now passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are experiencing offensively is largely down to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with the QB helps shape him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.

Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're working above average, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key is is maintain this path.

They're really good at embracing their strength, which is running the ball, and this is precisely what they must do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Since the league began tracking turnovers in 1933, this team are also the first team to go without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After this Sunday's game, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the division.

It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
